marketing
it’s interesting how certain hobbies or features of a person can be used so much to extrapolate what kind of person he/she is. for instance, if a person likes comic books or has a lot of Lord of the Rings memorabilia, we assume certain things about him. whereas if we see that person with say a basketball jersey or some kind of name brand clothing, we assume something else. i guess my point is, when it comes to the dating scene and marketing yourself, you should be aware of what image you’re putting out there. i’m definitely not saying mis-represent yourself (false advertising!), but to just be self aware. and when you do do that (yes, i said ‘do do’), you may realize you want to modify the way you sell yourself.
artwork wise, i’m happy with the way remy is striking a pose. i think it captures the, “hey, look at me with this cool guitar” image i was going for. the bar backdrop itself though turned out just alright i think. i’ll be honest, i got lazy and didn’t do half the detail that could/should go into that background with bottles, registers, etc. my only excuse is like Bill Watterson said, you should draw just enough to deliver the point.
“if a person likes comic books or has a lot of Lord of the Rings memorabilia, we assume certain things about him.” – like that he’s a boy, haha.
